Renegade Craft Fair LA

This Saturday, my mom and I had a blast at the Renegade Craft Fair. So many talented and creative people and seriously fun shopping. Here are a few of my favorites.

uccello curioso - great illustrations and lovely paper.

Janie XY - cutest booth at the fair! Lovely felt toys.

Pie Bird Press - letterpress cards, but not your everyday letterpress, multiple colors used, ink just kissed on the paper. They are gorgeous!

chez sucre chez I loved this booth. She has really lovely cross-stitch pieces that have cute sayings like "Follow Your Heart", but also ones with lyrics from Smiths songs. I couldn't decide on one, I think I need to order a few!

paper pastries This was a darling booth, my favorite thing was the custom return address stamp I was able to order.

The Eric Carle Museum

Forrest and I recently went to Hampshire College for my brother Sam's graduation and while we were there had a chance to visit the amazing Eric Carle Museum. The Museum has wonderful exhibits of the artist's work and other picture book artists, but what I really loved about it was all of their public programs. The museum has a children's library and an art studio open during regular museum hour. They offer special classes and workshops, but you can go to the art studio any time you are there and the art educators will have a fun art activity for you to try. Forrest and I did some printmaking. So much fun! After a week of going places designed for grown ups Forrest thought this was the best place ever! The museum has a great store and classes for adults as well. If you are ever in the Northampton/Amherst area definitely stop and check it out!

Je t'aime!

I have a thing for A frames. My dream is to restore an old A-frame for my ski lodge. But after seeing this one by architect Jean-Baptiste Barache in this month's dwell magazine, I think my new dream is to have him build me one. So lovely! You can see more photos here on dwell's website.

Forrest's Kentucky Derby Birthday Party

I had so much fun planning this party! We had Kentucky bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwiches, derby pies, tomatoes stuffed with grits and of course mint juleps! How can you celebrate a 2nd Birthday without bourbon? My husband organized the betting and my step-sister was thrilled to be the big winner. Making the dessert table was my favorite part of the planning. Forrest helped make the cookies and I was really pleased with how the cake turned out. But best of all was that Forrest had so much fun! He loved all his treats, ate way too much cake and played with all his best buddies. I was sure that he was going to wear the jockey outfit for 5 minutes and want to take it off, but he really liked all the attention he got in it and kept it on the whole day. Although he enjoyed looking like a jockey, he refused to ride the adorable pony. "Too scary!" He did enjoy petting him, so all in all it was a great day!
